Established as one of the major departments of the Institute, since its inception in 2013, the Department of Electrical Engineering is actively engaged in teaching and research. With an annual intake of 60 students the department offers one under graduate programme in electrical engineering. With a view to attracting excellent students in UG programmes, the College has established a number of scholarships.
The Department currently has sixteen faculty members. The number of PhD holders in the department is 5. The Department has 3 Professors and 13 Assistant Professors. The faculty members of the department are committed in facilitating the best education and training for the students.
Established in 2013, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers a B.Tech program with an annual intake of 60 students and holds NBA accreditation through 2025 with a score of 689. Staffed by dedicated young faculty and experienced professionals spanning all EEE disciplines, the department blends solid core education with modern developments. It boasts well-equipped labs—covering electric machines, power systems, control systems (including microcontrollers, embedded systems, and PLCs), power electronics, and digital signal processing—featuring tools like digital oscilloscopes, variable frequency drives, power quality analyzers, MATLAB, PSIM, and MiPower. Key initiatives include a pioneering collaboration with SIEMENS India for hands-on automation experience and a 180 kWp grid-connected solar power plant—the first of its kind among educational institutions in Kerala—offering students and faculty real-world exposure to renewable energy. Faculty maintain a steady research output of about five publications per year, backed by ₹10 lakh in project funding, and over 75% of students secure campus placements annually, with packages ranging from an average of ₹4 LPA to a top placement of ₹15 LPA.
The department has been actively involved in cutting-edge research, securing funding from esteemed agencies to drive innovation and address significant societal challenges.
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is a global organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, focusing on a wide range of fields including electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, telecommunications, aerospace, biomedical engineering, and more. The IEEE aims to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. It provides a platform for collaboration, standards development, and knowledge sharing in various engineering fields.
Our college has five Society chapters namely Robotics & Automation society (RAS), Computer Science Society, Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) & Power and Energy Society (PES). It also has a active Women in Engineering (WiE) affinity group. The vibrant Student Branch (SB) of the college along with the society conduct various technical and non-technical events and participate in various events in other institutions. They have obtained various funds for conducting workshops, hackathons and outreach events.
The electrical labs includes all the necessary equipment and accessories as prescribed in the University syllabus.
